The Charvel Desolation in Trans Blue Smear was on our wishlist for some time but it turned out not to be our first Charvel. When this Model 3A catches our atttention, we decide to go for it and on Christmas Day 2013 we welcome this 1987 electric blue beauty into the family. The seller is a lover, connoisseur and guitar tech so the Charvel is in excellent condition. For its age, the guitar is in very good condition, with only two dings. The tremolo arm is not original but after so many years, that's not much of a surprise.
What is a surprise, though, is that we turn out to own of the seller's favorite guitars, the Hondo H1 Lightning Bolt. As it's always nice to talk about guitars with a fellow afficionado, we keep talking for a bit longer, despite the Christmas obligations.
The Model 3A looks a bit rounder and fuller than say the Jackson Dinky, because of its rounded horns and less deep cutaways.
