We'd seen a Chameleon Xiphos at Meibergen before, but had never been prepared to pay €799 for it. Every time we saw it, something drew us to it, and then the price drove us away. And then we found one online which was in pretty good shape and for a better price. Only after buying it we found out it wasn't actually green but blue, as is the original colour name. Funny thing is that under most angles, it's green, and only when you hold it to the light in just the right way, it suddenly turns metallic blue.

The XPT700 is actually our third 700 series, along with the Destroyer and V-Blade, but it looks very different from those two. The main similarity is that all three have DiMarzio D Activators; only the Xiphos has a reversed headstock and reversed shark tooth inlays, and a tremolo.

When first playing it, the sound seemed wrong, which was a bit disappointing. After investigating, it turned out that the original DiMarzios had been replaced by EMGs, which had been taken out again before selling. What they hadn't taken out again, however, were the EMG pots that they had also replaced... So after replacing them with normal pots again, it sounded normal again. Well, as normal as a high gain metal machine can get, of course ;-)
